Welcome to W. O. Parmer Elementary School—Home of the Tiger Cubs.   Our school is comprised of approximately six hundred students ranging from kindergarten to second grade. At WOP, the pupil teacher ratio is low ranging between 1:13 to 1:18.
We have an astounding faculty and staff. One hundred percent of the faculty is certified and highly qualified. In addition, there is a nurse located on the school campus to care for needs of our students.
At W. O. Parmer administrators and teachers are committed to educating the whole child. It is widely acknowledged that the arts have the capacity to inspire, inform, challenge, raise self-esteem and allow for self expression to individuals. Therefore, students attending WOP are immersed into the arts. Students will receive both: visual and performing arts weekly. Because each student is unique, there is a huge array of electives from which parents and students may choose. Electives include but are not limited to Spanish, dance (tap and ballet), technology, keyboarding and creative writing.
Academic excellence is always priority at W. O. Parmer. Students of all ability are challenged. There are advanced classes for those exceeding the required criteria and intervention classes for those who need additional assistance.Because of high expectations, WOP has achieved Master Schoolaward for the last two consecutive years--this award is presented by Renaissance Learning. In addition, WOP is an AMSTI Site-Alabama Math, Science, and Technology, Initiative. For the past two summers, teachers have given up two weeks of their summer and traveled long distances to obtain training in the areas of math and science. Students now learn through exploration. Commitment from teachers has made a major impact on how students now view math and science.

W. O. Parmer is a wonderful place. Here we have an open door policy. Please come and visit with us.

Sincerely,

Catherine Tanner
